American Corner Skopje Third Anniversary

The third anniversary of the American Corner Skopje took place at the second floor hall of the corner’s host institution, the City library Braka Miladinovci. The corner was proud to have the Ambassador of the United States of America, Her Excellence Gillian Milovanovic as the host of the anniversary. Among the 85 people present, mostly members and friends of the corner, there were also representatives from the Embassy, USAID, the Peace Corps, the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, the City of Skopje, distinguished professors and many reporters who covered the event.

The opening speech was made by the coordinator of the American corner, Ms. Olivera Trajkova who welcomed the guests and expressed her deep appreciation to the Embassy (especially the Public Affairs Office), the host institution of the corner for their constant support and assistance, the Ministry of Culture, the City of Skopje and the staff of the American corner for their hard work during the past 3 years.  The speech of the Ambassador who referred to the corner as “our” corner followed (neither American nor Macedonian) describing it as a place where everyone is more than welcomed to use any of the resources available or take part in the activities organized. Mr. Filip Petrovski expressed his satisfaction about the wonderful cooperation with the corner.

The Ambassador presented the City library Braka Miladinovci with a Certificate of Appreciation as well as 5 Peace Corps Volunteers who cooperate with the corner regularly, including the member Elida Mihajlovska for having organized many presentations. After the wonderful performance by several students of the secondary school “Ilija Nikolovski-Luj” everyone present was invited to see the highlights photo exhibition which also included newspapers clippings.
